Mastering Game Mechanics Bootcamp
A comprehensive course on designing advanced game mechanics and balancing systems

Course Overview
This comprehensive bootcamp provided me with a deep understanding of game mechanics design, taught by industry veteran Alexander Brazie, former designer at Blizzard Entertainment. The course covered advanced techniques for creating engaging gameplay systems, balancing methodologies, and player psychology principles.
Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical applications, I developed skills in creating robust game systems that are both engaging and balanced. The hands-on approach allowed me to apply concepts immediately through design exercises and projects.
Skills Improved
This bootcamp enhanced my game development toolkit with the following specialized skills:
Combat System Design
Creating balanced combat mechanics with meaningful choices, appropriate challenge curves, and satisfying feedback loops.
Team Communication
Developed effective collaboration techniques with fellow designers, including structured brainstorming sessions and design reviews. Learned to give and receive constructive feedback on game concepts while maintaining a unified creative vision.
Game Depth
Learned to analyze and create game systems with appropriate depth using frameworks like wide/shallow (many simple options) vs. narrow/deep (few complex options). Can now design mechanics that create meaningful player choices and emergent gameplay.
Certificates
Certificates earned upon successful completion of course requirements:
Course Project
Mastering Mechanics Drill Worksheet
A structured training system designed to develop player depth and technical skills across all gameplay modes (PvP, PvE, Co-op). Balances mechanical challenges with psychological engagement using the 3CS framework, enhancing compositional understanding and combat proficiency.
